Sweet potato and quinoa salad with chipotle dressing

If you’re like me, this time of year you’ll crave anything which does not remind you of festive foods. It is like your body is automatically programmed to detox. And this extends to drinking too. Green juice, herbal teas, plenty of filtered water and minimal alcohol is on my menu for the foreseeable future and it feels fantastic. Saying that, it is not always easy to find a wide enough variety of flavours when cooking green and healthy  – at times it can get a bit repetitive. Which is why I’m very excited about today’s recipe which is SO TASTY!! Continue reading “Sweet potato and quinoa salad with chipotle dressing”

The power of daily rituals

IMG_3201

Start the way you mean to go on. Old cliché maybe but in the past I have talked about the importance of rituals in my own life and how they may affect the way we carry ourself in the world. Beginnings are powerful as they give us a chance to start fresh and bring new intentions to the table. Finding your own ritual, one that works for your life situation, can be a challenge as we are all so busy. But pursue it, I urge you, as it can make a huge difference to how you feel, both mentally and physically. Rituals can include food and drink choices, exercise and relaxation that you do to be the best person you can be on a daily basis. Continue reading “The power of daily rituals”

Detoxify Today

IMG_5053

Today I’ve had mainly juice, water and a boat load of herbal teas. It was an instant decision this morning – nothing planned – as I felt I needed a detox. It’s not been that hard really, I mean I know I’ll eat tomorrow so we’re not talking a month’s fast here. My fridge was brimming with veg so I knew that as soon as I felt hunger I simply made myself another juice. This time around I also ended up with other colours but green. The carrot/ginger/apple combo featured felt like a naughty treat – carrots are just so sweet and delicious.

For those needing a radical overhaul, however, I recommend watching the UK juice guru, Jason Vale’s, new documentary ‘Superjuice Me”. In it he takes 8 peeps in need of big change to his juice sanctuary in Portugal. For 28 days the experiment entails nothing but drinking fresh juice, combined with a bit of light exercise such as yoga, walking and swimming. The volunteers are overweight, ill and most in chronic pain. Their results are quite remarkable and sets them up for a brand new life. I recommend it wholeheartedly, click here to watch.

I wish you a really lovely evening. x

Cleansing Juice

20140930-170008.jpgGood Morning! No time like the present to insert a bit of goodness before you head out into your day. This morning’s juice is simple to do and cleansing in nature. Not many ingredients either – this one is a clean, mean machine that will keep you buzzing throughout the day.

  • Cucumber – a great source of vitamin C, is alkalizing and cleansing.
  • Ginger – a powerful antiseptic that keeps our immune system flowing the way it ought to.
  • Celery – includes nutrients that calms and may even help your sleep whilst reducing your blood pressure.

Cleansing Juice

1 cucumber

4 stalks of celery

2″ piece of ginger root

1 apple

Juice it all and enjoy the drink as soon as possible after having made it. I wish you all a fantastic day! x
